LCD Development Meetings
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) assigned Palmetto GBA the task of developing local coverage determinations (LCDs) for processing and reviewing Medicare claims.
Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) Meetings
Palmetto GBA will periodically host CAC meetings to inform healthcare professionals of the evidence used in developing LCDs and promote communications between the MAC and the healthcare community. A formal CAC panel will be asked to discuss the clinical literature related to the specific topic and rate their confidence in a series of key questions. Discussions will occur between CAC panelists and Contractor Medical Directors. Interested stakeholders will be invited to listen.

Open Meetings
Palmetto GBA will periodically host open meetings to discuss the scientific evidence underlying proposed LCDs. Interested parties from within the jurisdiction may attend and orally present information related to the proposed LCDs. Palmetto GBA requires all presenters to also submit their oral comments through a formal comment process.
